We can’t even begin to explain how excited we were when Michelle and Michael booked us to be their wedding videographers in beautiful Zihuatanejo, Mexico. I was around 7 months pregnant with Lea (pretty much during the dead of winter) when Michelle first emailed us, and all I could think was, ‘beach, sun, sand, and…did I say sun?’ Somehow I managed to forget all the logistics that would be involved with having a 2 1/2 month old baby by the the time the wedding rolled around…but then I thought, ‘that’s what grandma and grandpa are for!’ Ah, we’re so lucky!
Besides these selfish thoughts of frolicking on the beach (minus baby), I was thinking we could produce some pretty epic wedding cinematography in such a stunning place! At first, I had no idea where Zihuatanejo was – never heard of it! Then Henry showed me something he found when typing the name into Google. The place was mentioned in Shawshank Redemption – one of our favourite movies of all time! We’ve uploaded the clip to our HenjoFilms FB page for anyone interested in that conversation between Tim Robbins’ character and Morgan Freeman’s. Can’t believe we were lucky enough to go to the very same place that they were talking about. It was definitely a dream getaway granted by the lovely Michael and Michelle. We needed to pinch ourselves by the end of it, just to check that it was all real!
The beautiful scenery was just the icing on top of an amazing day shared with the couple’s closest family and friends. We couldn’t have witnessed a more intimate ceremony – the whole wedding party took part as conductors of ceremony from beginning to end! Another special treat and surprise for everyone was the performance by Michael’s parents. You could just feel the emotion in the air, knowing that they performed this song at their wedding so many years ago. We knew we had to include it in their wedding video. If all this love wasn’t enough, fun, fun, and more fun were just around the corner! Pinatas, cocktails, a mariachi band…we knew from the very start of the day that these people were ready to party! By the end of the night, almost everyone was in the pool (fully clothed!) – even us! With the lights, the music, and all the pool shenanigans, we honestly felt like we were filming a music video.
We can’t thank M&M enough for being so welcoming and making us feel like part of the family! You guys gave us the opportunity to shoot in such a gorgeous place and make a video that we will cherish for a lifetime! Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
