Payal Banquets & Convention Centre | Mississauga | Mehnaz + Bilal

Payal Banquet Hall Mississauga wedding videographer

We got to spend 2 wonderful days with Bilal and Mehnaz celebrating their union as a married couple. 2 days means 2 venues, 2 outfits, 2 meals, 2 more days of fun, and of course 2 wedding videographers 😉 I’m starting to think a 2 day wedding should be the new standard – why not prolong all the festivities?!

VENUES: The first event was held at the Picnic Pavilion of McFarland Park in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It’s a beautiful wooden pavilion that can hold intimate ceremonies and receptions with washroom facilities nearby. It was the perfect setting for Mehnaz and Bilal’s wedding ceremony because guests could be seated comfortably in the pavilion sheltered from the sun (or whatever weather elements are faced) but still get that outdoor feel. It was very much like my own reception in the Grand Pavilion at Black Creek Pioneer Village – I didn’t have to worry about rain but still got the outdoorsy feel which I really wanted!  The Picnic Pavilion was also the perfect space for this couple because it was easily transformed into a setting for lunch afterwards, because cute picnic tables were provided on the perimeter. It’s also a good choice if you plan on heading to Niagara Falls for a photo-shoot and more wedding cinematography…which the couple did!

The second venue was held at Payal Banquet Hall in Mississauga. This venue can accommodate your needs of 100 guests or even 1000! So if you’re looking for a banquet hall that can hold your big event in Mississauga, this is your place! The foyer is something to note – very spacious and perfect for a cocktail hour. You know how much I love natural light, so I was very impressed with the floor to ceiling windows in this area and it made for great wedding videography. If you’re not going to get natural light in the actual banquet hall, at least you can make use of the foyer before it gets dark!

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER: We have to mention Mehnaz’s mother in this post, because she was the sweetest thing ever! We met her before the wedding at our original consultation with Mehnaz and you could just see the warmth radiating from her! We really noticed the special bond between mother and daughter that day and even more so at the wedding. Not only was she a barrel of laughs, she was working so hard preparing everything at the ceremony site – basically a supermom like many moms are!  It was great to see her just glowing from the fact that her daughter was getting married to the man of her dreams.

BHANGRA DANCERS: I have to say that every time I watch a bhanghra performance I can’t help but dance…obviously my focus is keeping the camera steady LOL, but I’m just bursting to jump on the dance floor and bust some moves with the group! The music is just so fun and the performance is nothing but engaging and entertaining. The group that the couple chose was recommended through the DJ and they did an amazing job – loved the jumping, dancing, and all the props! They really brought the house down and helped provide some extra action for the wedding cinematography!

PHOTOGRAPHERS: We worked with Journalistic Capture on day 1 and Ross Creative Photography on day 2. It was interesting to work with two different photography teams on the same wedding, but we all got acquainted very quickly! Journalistic Capture is also a husband/wife team and we certainly bonded on this aspect! We could tell that they trusted each other with their shots as we do, making it a very comfortable and an easy going team to work with! As their name suggests, they like the candid moments that you find in every wedding. It’s definitely a style we appreciate as well.

MUSIC: The song we used,  Ishq Sufiyana by Kamal Khan, was a choice of the bride and groom – and we LOVE it! I don’t speak Hindi but you certainly can’t tell when this song is playing on blast. As I was editing this wedding video, I was singing to the chorus like nobody was watching…well maybe Henry was…I’ll say sorry to your ears for that.

Congrats once again to the lovely Mehnaz and Bilal! Thanks for making the first wedding we filmed as a married couple so special!

Until the next post,
Joanie x
