We first met John and Astor at Angus Glen Golf Club while shooting their friend’s wedding – Jeff and Michele. John was in Jeff’s bridal party and as part of the entertainment for the reception, John showed off his drum skills during the Lion Dance. He didn’t disappoint his own guests, and picked up the sticks for another go at his own wedding! Boy, this guy has some crazy hand speed! Thank god for slow motion!
John and Astor decided to hold their wedding in Toronto at The Grand Luxe Event Boutique! Both the wedding ceremony and reception was held at this location, which provided the ultimate in terms of convenience for all the guests and vendors involved. It wasn’t our first time at this venue either, check out a video we shot there back in 2013 – Wilkin + Antonella. Offering a wicked bar, a beautifully large and open space, and of course we cannot forget the fire show!
This wedding packed a punch – a martial arts performance, flying kicks during the entrances, and the most spectacular lion dance we’ve seen! It probably helps when the groom is part of the crew! As Toronto wedding videographers, we always love as much action and variety as possible during a wedding day, so we were very happy to see all of the events on John and Astor’s program! We have to mention that the lion dance was extra special because everyone got involved, including the parents! It was a real family affair.
We have to give a shout out to Dennis from Motion D Photography. He has a very relaxing presence on the day and was great to work with!
Another note we have to mention was that it was really cool seeing one of our other couples, Jeff and Michelle again. It’s such a nice feeling seeing the couple in person again after spending so many weeks editing their wedding video. It was really nice to reminisce about their day! On a side note, Michelle wouldn’t let us go before knocking back a few cheeky shots at the bar – she is the ultimate life of the party!
John and Astor, Joanie and I can’t thank you both enough for trusting us to capture your big day and for putting on such a great show for all of your guests! I’m looking forward to the day we bump into you guys again and get to have a chat about your wedding as well 🙂
