Kevin’s mother said it best in her speech – Kevin and Olivia are both incredibly beautiful on the outside and even more beautiful on the inside! We were very excited that these two booked with us because we knew that they would have a unique wedding in store for us! Kevin and Olivia are self-proclaimed ‘big kids at heart’ which is one of the reasons they decided to plan a Disney themed wedding. The place also holds a special place in both their hearts. This Disney themed wedding was certainly a first for us. From the favours to the cake, to the candy bar and the table numbers, we could definitely feel the magic in the air! Everyone was even provided with Mickey and Minnie ears for a special Kevin and Olivia song (sung in unison by every guest in the room)! It was a night for family and friends to forget they were adults, let their hair down, and just have fun!
DISNEY INTRO AND END QUOTE:With Disney being so important to the couple, we knew we had to incorporate its spirit into our wedding video. We came up with the idea to start off with a Walt Disney intro using their names. We felt it just added that special element to the video that made it unique to Kevin and Olivia. We couldn’t end off the video without a Disney quote “Love is a Song that Never Ends” – from the movie Bambi. We thought it was just a perfect way to sum up these two and their love for each other.
BRIDE & GROOM GIFTS: A lot of couples prepare presents and a card for each other the morning of the big day, and sometimes, these gifts and cards get us choked up behind the camera! We know that Kevin and Olivia’s loved ones always praise the two as being very generous, but we didn’t know how generous until we saw the ‘multiple’ gifts they had given to each other – gifts that not only had the ‘wow’ factor, but gifts that truly took time and effort, and that were truly from the heart. Olivia gave Kevin a scrapbook of their adventures together as a couple – no detail was left out! It was super sweet, and not surprisingly, brought tears to Kevin’s eyes! Kevin got Olivia an iPad with a special video he made for her to play when she opened it. Just like the adventure book had accomplished, the video brought tears to the other’s eyes! VENUE: The couple chose The Lakeview by Carmen’s which is a waterfront venue on the shores of Lake Ontario. The couple mentioned that they had some issues with staff that night, but did agree that the location and setting was very beautiful. The good thing is that the venue had a balcony that guests could use to admire the view. This also made for some great wedding cinematography. You are looking at a smaller guest count for this venue as it can get pretty tight with the more tables you add. So if you are planning a small wedding in the Hamilton area, then you may want to consider this location.
DJ & MC:David Beal and Zach of Music Unlimited DJs did a great job of keeping the flow of the night moving and on schedule. And as you can see from the dancing clips, they also did an amazing job of keeping the party going all night long! After having our own wedding, we know how important it is to have a great MC as they really dictate the mood of the night and the smooth flow of your schedule. My longtime friend stepped up to the plate at our wedding and I’m so glad he did! I knew he had the right presence and humour to maintain everyone’s attention and to control a crowd, so if you have a friend that exhibits these qualities, it’s a nice touch to get them for your MCing duties! If you don’t, it’s probably best to just stick with the professionals and go with a packaged MC/DJ!
MUSIC: When we heard the song Sweetest Thingby Benjamin Dunn and Friends we knew it was the song to use for Kevin and Olivia’s video. Since we had some great speeches to use, we knew we needed to find a song that allowed us to really make those speeches shine. Along with the amazing speeches that night, there was some brilliant dancing! It was so hard for us to choose which clips to use because there were so many. Everyone was on the same page – party mode! That being said, we also needed a song that had that upbeat factor that would work well with the wedding videography dancing footage we got. Based on those factors, this song worked perfectly!
Congratulations once again to Kevin and Olivia! We want to say a big thank you for choosing us to be your videographers for your big day. We also want to send a special shout out to the couple for giving us the WedPics tip for our own wedding! It’s an app that basically replaces the disposable camera idea at weddings! We used it, and it was great 🙂
