READY TO GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE?

‘1871’ Berkeley Church Event Venue | Toronto Wedding | Kimberly + Cumbysis

Like all the weddings we film we always get to learn so many unique and cool facts about the couple. One part that really cracked me up was how Cumbysis was highly allergic to cats just like myself. The only difference is, Joanie doesn’t own a cute furball (lucky me) but Kimberly does and Cumbysis just takes it on the chin like a champ! That’s love right there. He even went one step further by planning a surprise for Kimberly after their first look by bringing along their adorable cat ‘Hayward’. So all throughout the getting ready process, Cumbysis had Hayward with him and he didn’t think about his allergies once. The things we do for love eh!

We love capturing weddings at Berkeley church as it’s so spacious and gives us opportunity for a few different angles because of the second floor. Berkeley Events own a number of venues and one of them is the Berkeley Field House which is right next door. We’ve shot weddings here a few times too including – Selina + Chris. We do love a venue where both the ceremony and reception can be held in the same building. It frees up so much more time for the couple to spend with the people that are there with them on the big day. Less time in a car, and more time having fun!

We also love learning about new cultures and traditions. This was our first time doing a Zoroastrian wedding ceremony. There were lots of great moments to capture on camera, but one of the moments that we knew we couldn’t miss, was the bride and groom reveal followed by the rice throwing. Once the entrances happen, the bride and groom are sitting face-to-face and separated only by a piece of fabric. It is the quickly away for the the reveal. Whoever throws the rice first is apparently going to wear the pants in the relationship! We had our cameras set to record in slow motion during this moment as we knew it would be over in a second. If my memory serves me correctly, Kimberly got a heads up from the officiant just before the reveal happened, as I saw a cheeky wink from Kimberly. So Cumbysis, you never stood a chance to win that battle 🙂

We don’t often or ever really mention how good looking our couples are. But these two could grace the front of GQ or something similar. I’m just gonna leave it at that. Then when it came to personalities, Cumbysis was so polite and well-mannered. He made me feel like he was working for me on the day constantly asking me if I needed anything. And Kimberly was a real girls girl! The way her friends described her in their speeches made that so evident throughout the day. People truly notice her when she walks into a room as she definitely has a wonderful energy about her. She is such a social butterfly going above and beyond to make everyone else feel comfortable. As I’ve said before, we really learn so much about a couple just by spending one day with them! Couples start out as clients and end up as friends 🙂

Thanks guys for trusting us to tell your story and we are sure our paths will cross again at another event in the future!

Nuthin but love,
Henjo x
