READY TO GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE?

99 Sudbury | Toronto | Kin Mei + Michael

99 Sudbury Toronto wedding video videography

A quick note first, to keep watching the wedding video til the very end – past our logo! 🙂

COUPLE: Kin Mei and Michael met way back in highschool, and since then, had a tremendous love story that ultimately culminated in the beautiful wedding that happened on September 29, 2012. Both amazing people (with the bride being a self-proclaimed foodie), we basically had a brilliant time filming…and eating!!!  Oh the perks of the job! Seriously, you gotta pause the video when we get a shot of the menu…your mouth will water! Michael was so cool, calm, and collected during what is supposed to be a stressful day – it really rubbed off on us! Kin Mei was just as bubbly as can be, and basically had a glow about her throughout the day/night as I’m sure you can see in this wedding video! They were such a lovely combo, with their deep love for each other evident as they did their private vows with each other before the ceremony….tear*

WEDDING COORDINATOR: When I see good wedding coordinators in action, I seriously think, “I could use one of those for mine!” I certainly felt this way when I saw Yury Baik from YB Wedding & Events in action at Kin Mei and Michael’s wedding! When you’re trying to cut down on costs, wedding coordinators are probably not at the top of your wedding list of ‘must-haves’, but good ones can seriously take a big weight off your shoulders on your special day! They take care of all the little things that you don’t want to be thinking about on your big day (which can be super stressful!). Yury was certainly on top of everything on the day/night and I know the couple were super impressed as well!

VENUE: 99 Sudbury was certainly a unique choice of venue for a wedding! And as it was mentioned throughout the day, Kin Mei is not one for convention, so it was fitting that their wedding was held in this event space. It had a super modern feel with extremely high ceilings – a proper warehouse feel and decor to match, great for wedding cinematography! They were also able to do both the ceremony/cocktails/reception in the same space, and were able to transform the area quite nicely.

PHOTOSHOOT LOCATION: As you can see from the highlight video, we were able to get some lovely wedding videography shots at Sunnyside Beach on Lakeshore in Toronto. Great spot for photos, and it definitely gave us a nice backdrop for some video too!  Big thanks to the bride for being a good sport – she took off her shoes and ran on the beach with her lovely dress…before the ceremony!  You did a great job of holding it up Kin, the dress was gorgeous 🙂

OFFICIANT: Pastor Joseph Rah from The Meeting House was certainly unconventional and hilarious! He certainly didn’t make the ceremony ‘boring’ which is what he said he was trying to avoid! Great flow, humour, warmth was added to the ceremony – AND he kept it short (to the couple’s liking!), which showed his ability to accommodate the needs of his couples.

MUSIC: We used Yellow by Coldplay for this highlight video…one of our faves! It really worked with this video because we had so many speeches to use…they were all great, and it was hard to choose!  Kin’s dad had the perfect speech for the opening of this video…thoughtful AND hilarious!

SINGERS AND GUITARIST: Pastor Darrick Tam & Jaisy Tam – Wow, they can sing/harmonize/play the guitar etc. etc. This wasn’t one of those cringe worthy American Idol performances – they were good! I’m seriously thinking about adding this element to my own wedding next year. They sang the song For a Thousand Years, which we used for our Jos + Kerri video, and killed it (in a good way!) LOL!  Great job, and seriously loved the live music element to the ceremony!

Thank you Kin Mei and Michael for choosing us to film your special day – unique and unconventional! Just the way we like it! We are so happy to have met two people like you 🙂

Until the next post,
Joanie x
