READY TO GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE?

Crystal Fountain Wedding + Event Venue | Markham | Alice + Ahilun

One of the many little joys for me when editing our wedding videos is going through the groom’s Q&A and hearing those answers for the first time. Since Henry does his one-on-one with the groom in the morning while I’m doing my one-on-one with the bride, that’s the only part of the day where I don’t get to listen in on the audio until after the wedding. Sometimes I gasp at the unexpected, laugh at the hilarious, or just beam with glee when I hear something that truly narrates the story that I’m trying to tell. Basically it’s a bag full of surprises! With Ahilun, he gave me all of that and more! I just connected with everything he said. There is this truly genuine quality about him that can’t really be described. You can probably see it and feel it just by watching this wedding video!

Honestly, out of all the groom’s Q&As that I’ve gone through as a wedding videographer, I’ve never teared up as much as I did when going through Ahilun’s. Maybe it’s because I just completely felt every word that he said. He meant it when he said that he lives for Alice. He meant it when he said how much her family means to him. They were not things that he was ‘supposed’ to say, but rather just feelings from the heart. Everyone tries their best to speak from the heart, but sometimes the nerves of being in front of a camera just takes over – it’s natural! Henry and I have the easy job of being behind the camera and asking the questions, so we totally get it! The openess of Ahilun reminded us of another Q&A we did where we felt the groom didn’t hold back (Mustafa + Sarah). A good Q&A definitely starts my editing process off on the right foot!

So, with Ahilun being super awesome, it’s only fitting that he finds an equally awesome partner! Alice is TOOO sweet and adorable! She is just such a lovable human being and I’m sure all of her family and friends can attest to that! Her and Ahilun came by our place after the wedding to drop something off, and our little one instantly jumped into her arms! That is the perfect example of how her positivity and cheerful nature just radiates off of her! We are so happy that these two lovebirds lived in the same apartment growing up and went to elementary school together as it brought them to where they are today! What a story! The world needs more love like this!

We had so much fun all day working with the couple and their whole bridal party! Everyone was just looking to have a good time which definitely shows on film! Fun bridal parties are the best…cue another bunch from Kathy + Patrick’s big day! We also worked alongside a wonderful photographer, Austin, from Beautiful Life Studios! They did a great job working with us to help the couple have the best videos and photos possible on the day! We hope to work with them again in the future! A lot of vendors and people contributed to making this wedding a success, including Crystal Fountain Event Venue (same venue where we filmed Debbie + Brian’s wedding), and you can see additional ones below.

I think we got the song choices spot on for this video. The first song is an absolutely beautiful one, Yours by Ella Henderson. I can listen to this over and over again – it really just moved me to tears when paired with all the audio and imagery that we used for the first half of the video. The second song, What Happens in de Party by Rupee was something I found when going through all of the dance clips that night. I saw loads of people vibing to the song and singing the lyrics out loud, so I checked it out and thought it would fit perfectly for the last half of the video. The tune is so upbeat and fun and matched so well with the party that went on all evening!

Thank you Alice and Ahilun again for letting us be a part of your special day! We are so happy to call you one of our couples but even more happy to call you our friends! If we could do your wedding all over again, we would!

Until the next post,
Joanie x
