READY TO GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE?

Mississauga Convention Centre | Afghan Wedding Video | Sufya + Pamir

When Sufya and Pamir first contacted us they said they were looking for something different. They came to the right place! Welcome to HenjoFilms! Ok, that sounded way too cocky! I think you can tell that it is me, Henry, who is writing this blog post 🙂

What stood out to us about this wedding? The generosity of both families was really overwhelming, in a good way! Both families were so welcoming to Joanie and I over this two-day wedding. We were continuously being offered food and drink throughout both days. Apart from all the love we were receiving, we have to mention the Attan. These guys know how to dance and it is a big part of Afghan culture. We knew it was very important to this couple, so we kept the cameras rolling and captured an insane amount of footage! Our computers nearly fainted when they saw how much footage they had to store and back up in multiple places once the wedding was done. Needless to say, it’s going to be a very long feature length video 🙂

The ceremony was held in Milton City Hall Courtyard. It was a really cute setting for a really intimate gathering of close family and friends to watch these two make it official. The weather was perfect and there were smiles all around from beginning to end. Pamir summed it up best during his Q&A, events like this don’t come around too often, so when they happen it’s all about getting together and seeing all of your family and friends.

The wedding reception was held at the Mississauga Convention Centre. It’s very rare that Joanie or I would mention florals or decor in a wedding blog post but we were really blown away when we walked into the hall. Floor to ceiling drapery surrounded the entire interior and that really makes a huge difference. Everything was on point no matter what part of the room you were looking at. So big shout out to Petals + Pearls for doing an amazing job.

Oh, before I forget.. Pamir has a twin brother which you may have noticed in the getting ready part of the video. And how do you tell them apart you ask… Pamir has this cool white streak in his hair that he was born with! Sounds like something straight out of a movie! Pamir – I’ll see you in 15 years at the next family event mate! You are one cool, calm and collected guy.

We also have to mention the wedding photographers. We worked with Wajahat from Fotugrafee Studios for Day 1 and 2 of the wedding. He is really easy to work with and very accommodating when it comes to wedding videographers. It was a great partnership working side by side on both days. Then for the getting ready and photoshoot we worked with Bruna from Simple Lace Photography. Bruna is someone we had just shot a wedding with earlier that summer so it was really nice to work with her again. She is a little cutie with a big talent. We then randomly ended up working with her on another wedding later in the summer, so it seems that greater forces are at work to bring us together.

One more thing. So I was sitting at my computer with my back to Joanie, when I heard this super cool tune. I was hoping in my head it was something one of our couples suggested as I loved it after like the first 15 seconds of the song! When Joanie confirmed it was one of Sufya’s song suggestions, we both knew we were on the right track to making something with an extra edge to it. The song is American Money by Borns – absolutely sick tune! As for the other wicked tune, London by James Newton Howard (from the Blood Diamond soundtrack), we knew we needed something powerful with a build up that could carry all the action from the first day. It reminds us of another epic tune we used for Taran and Manpreet’s wedding video back in 2014!

Ok, I think I will stop boring everybody with my poor writing skills. Thanks again Sufya and Pamir for trusting us to take care of the wedding videography. Have watching it with all the family!

Nuthin but love,
Henry
