READY TO GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE?

Old Mill Wedding | Toronto | Alexis + Sean

We never actually met Alexis or Sean until the big day, but from the phone conversation we had we could tell that we were in for a great day! Alexis was just as we imagined – fun, genuine, bubbly, and emotional (as she says so herself!). She’s just such a ‘real’ person as many described her to be in their speeches. One bridesmaid said it best, ‘everyone needs a Lex in their life!’ Sean is the perfect balance for Alexis and is the ying to her yang. His laugh is literally the best (although Alexis can challenge him to that title!). They are both self-proclaimed geeks and wasn’t shy in sharing that side of them to the world! From all of the unique centerpieces to the coolest customized couple portrait, the decor really was out of this world and one-of-a-kind. Check out the video to see what we mean! Here’s a little insight into how the bride envisioned her day and how all the decor and details came about:

The theme for our wedding was geeky carnival.  Early on in our planning stages, we realized that we loved a bunch of different things that typically did not “go” together.  It was important for us to have a wedding that reflected us fully versus a watered down version.  Luckily, we met and went with vendors that were excited to create something “out of the box” and helped make our dream a reality.  Family and friends are super important to both of us, and really form the foundation of our lives.  We wanted to be able to share our loves with them.  The wedding was planned for us, but with their enjoyment in mind.  We wanted to create something that was fun for everyone and I think we did that from my 90 year old uncle to my my friend’s 5 year old son.

Loved the fashion of the day too. Alexis’ 50s style dress was custom made in the UK. Isn’t that baby blue petticoat gorgeous? What a nice little touch to the gown, which we got to get a full appreciation for when she twirled! We can’t forget the groom! His kilt and all the accessories made him look like a boss! He had a special knife tucked in his sock too – it was literally the full kit!

Alexis and Sean held their wedding at the Old Mill in Toronto which we have filmed in before (Arpana + Colin). The great thing was that we could do everything in one space which makes it super convenient for the couple and their guests! As an example, Alexis had a contact lens that was bothering her in the middle of the reception, and she was able to just walk to her accommodations and fix it and return like no time had passed!

We are over the moon that these two unique individuals chose us to capture their big day! Seriously, you need to watch the video to see how lovely and fun these two are. We went from tears to laughter to tears to laughter again! So many different emotions packed into one day and night. Thank you Alexis and Sean for letting us share in your special day! We know this next chapter is going to be one amazing adventure for you both!

Love,
Joanie and Henry x

Side note: the little outro of the MMMBop song was a special surprise for the bride because she LOVES Hanson. She even had a Hanson pin, pinned to the underside of her dress!
