READY TO GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE?

Paradise Banquet and Convention Centre | Toronto Wedding | Spike + Semay

When Spike first contacted us, I have to admit Joanie and I were very curious about how this guy looked. Having the name Spike Lee and being Chinese just gave us the feeling that this guy was some sort of celebrity or something. I think we even looked him up 🙂 So it’s fair to say that we were pretty excited from the first email about this couple and their wedding. And now that we are finished their highlight video we can say that it was an absolute delight shooting their wedding from beginning to end. They were well organised, had a jam packed wedding day and they weren’t afraid to show and express their love for their respective families. What more could we ask for as wedding cinematographers. Joanie is Cantonese so she understood everything that was being said during those emotional speeches and she couldn’t help but tear up behind the camera. Me, knowing no Chinese at all, was tearing up anyway! You could just feel and understand the emotion and didn’t actually need any translation at all!

Spike, as you see in the photo above, sang a rendition of a Jacky Cheung song where he changed up the lyrics to talk about one of his favourite things – choy (green leaf vegetables!) LOL! It was a surprise for Semay who isn’t that into ‘choy’, and a surprise for all of the guests! From all the reactions we got, everyone absolutely LOVED it! We felt like we were at some sort of concert as guests pulled out their phones and started waving their flashlights in the air! It was a moment that I’m sure no one will ever forget! You did amazing Spike for pulling that surprise off!

Their wedding was held at Paradise Banquet Hall. We have shot here a few times over the years, most recently in 2016 for Mustafa and Sarah’s wedding. There have a couple of different rooms on offer and the weddings we have shot there have always ran smoothly, so check it out if you are on the hunt for a wedding venue.

As for the photographer, we were very pleased to find out that we would be working with Andes Lo Photography again! It was about 4 years ago when we last shot a wedding together, but we stayed friends since that day and stayed in touch on facebook. He is so easy to get along with and takes the stress out of the day. I’m sure we will get to work together again soon!

Thanks again guys for having us be a part of your day. And thank you for your awesome reactions to your first viewing of your wedding video. It makes all the editing worth it and we knew you would appreciate and notice all the intricate edits.

Stay in touch,
Nuthin but love,
Henjo x
