First off, we have to thank one of our previous wedding couples (Pinky + Octav) for connecting us with Trevor and Richa. Without you guys, none of this could’ve been possible so THANK YOU! Getting these referrals means more than just a booking, it means that our couples were happy with our work, and that is the biggest compliment we could ever receive as wedding videographers!
Now onto the wedding…
We knew from the very start that this wedding was going to be epic. We can’t quite nail down why, but after 8 years of doing this, you just know. The wedding being a 2-day event doesn’t hurt either – we knew there would be lots of great footage to work with! We certainly were not disappointed!
Day one was held at the parents-of-the-bride’s house in Rodney, where Richa grew up. How cool is that!? Such a meaningful and sentimental touch to the whole day, right from the get-go. And what an amazing piece of property – did you see that drone shot from the sky?? Acres and acres of beautiful land! Throw in a team of highly organised friends handling all the logistics for the day, and we knew we were in a great place to do what we do. The main action kicked off when the groom entered on a horse with his family leading the way. This part of the wedding was carried out so effortlessly, you would think Trevor and his family travel everywhere in this fashion, riding on a horse and dancing up storm. Trevor’s parents and family didn’t just embrace Richa’s culture, they genuinely loved it and saw this as an opportunity to show just how much. This moment pretty much summed up the whole two days of wedding activities, two cultures happily coming together and so willingly learning about the other.
Day one also included the traditional ‘goodbye and exit’ which was a really emotional one to say the least. Richa, doing this at her parent’s property must’ve heightened that sense of emotion even more. Everyone was in tears for this symbolic moment! From the throwing of the rice to the pushing of the car, we couldn’t help but think that we were part of something amazingly big and personal in this couple’s lives. It was a privilege to witness, and an honour to film!
As for the wedding reception, that was held the following day at RattleSnake Point Golf Club. The evening was filled with great speeches and wonderful performances, keeping the guests on the edge of their seats at all times. And then to top it all off, everyone got involved when it came to the dance floor, young or old! They definitely knew how to party!
We can’t end this post without mentioning Richa’s uncle who was honoured throughout the two days in different ways. His daughters read out a poem that he wrote during their speech on the first day. It was so incredibly beautiful and perfectly flowed hand-in-hand with the events that were going on that day. We knew we had to incorporate his words into the video somehow, and we realized as we were editing, that it was the perfect ending to the film.
Thank you once again to Trevor and Richa for letting us be a part of such a beautiful two days celebrating your love! You were so amazing to work with and we can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for you both! You guys work so hard doing what you do, but we know you are finding the time to enjoy married life 🙂
Until the next post,
Joanie and Henry x
