It was an early start for us – so early it was still pitch black outside when we arrived at the bride’s house! But it was all totally worth it! We had a friggin’ BLAST at this wedding and it was jam-packed with content for wedding videography, which of course, was super exciting for us!
COUPLE: CUUUUTEE! That’s all I can say – what an adorable couple Bonnie and Kevin are! Bonnie is the bubbliest person I’ve met! She was smiling/laughing/giggling the whole time – even amongst the stresses of the wedding day, she managed to enjoy it all! Kevin was a bit more reserved and quiet, but really came out of his shell during the games portion of the day, AND the reception night! He really should consider a 2nd career in dancing! A beautiful union that has spanned over many years – they were meant for each other!
DOOR GAMES: We’ve filmed many Chinese weddings where the door games are a cultural tradition, and it seriously gets us every time! How can we not literally L.O.L when the grooms are subjected to ‘losing their dignity’ (as one of the bridesmaids put it) haha! With the bride closed off to the action, Bonnie had a great idea to watch a live feed of the action through her iphone! I’m totally stealing that idea! And Kevin, I think Destiny’s Child is looking for a fourth member before their reunion! I CANNOT WAIT for Henry and his boys to go through the same hurdles next year. I think he’s super scared because I’ve been banking all these amazing ideas to embarrass him along the way! Oh the joys of being a wedding videographer 🙂
PHOTOGRAPHERS: We worked with Andes and Edmond from Andes Lo Photography – they were soooo much fun to work with! They were so relaxed throughout the day which really helps as it doesn’t add to the stresses of a wedding. Super fun when they needed to be, and professional at the same time! Honestly, couldn’t have been a better team to work with on such a long day – we’re looking forward to working again with them in the future! And Andes’ portfolio speaks for itself – check him out!
MAKE-UP/HAIR: Satine Studios again! I had met her previously at Debbie + Brian’s wedding where I saw her skills firsthand. I’m sure I will be bumping into Satine quite often in the future as she’s always booked! She stayed through the night and helped Bonnie change her look and hairstyle – so if you’re looking for someone who can work on the go with you, she’s your gal!
DJ: DJ Mack played the music I wanted to hear! Great job customizing to the couple’s liking while maintaining his own flavour and style. I’m a sucker for 90’s hip hop – there were so many times throughout the night I felt transported back to highschool!
VENUE: The couple held their reception at Shangri-La Banquet and Convention Centre which is certainly great for Chinese cuisine. It’s located in the heart of Markham and has multiple rooms for different event sizes. High ceilings and a massive stage for a large wedding party, great for wedding cinematography! The ceremony was held at Estates of Sunnybrook which was a beautifully warm space with cream tones, a fireplace, old-school chandeliers, and a grand piano. Very elegant and chic for an intimate ceremony. The grounds are beautiful as well for photo opportunities (which is what we used during the photo/videography shoot).
MUSIC: The song we used for this wedding video is Viva La Vida by Coldplay (yes, we love this band!) – they produce such great music that just moves you! This song just worked so well with the footage we took at this wedding as it is really upbeat and uplifting. You can download off itunes here.
OFFICIANT: We bumped in Dr. Joshua Lam again (who also officiated Debbie + Brian’s wedding) – looks like a popular choice for bilingual (Chinese and English) ceremonies!
Congrats once again to the happy couple, Bonnie and Kevin! We’re so happy you chose us to help you re-live your special day!
Until the next post,
Joanie x
