We love the connections we make over the years shooting weddings. Back in 2015, we shot Pinky + Octav’s wedding in Toronto and Sabin was one of the bridesmaids. That is how Sabin found us for her special day with Eric. We love shooting referral weddings as it’s such a bonus seeing so many familiar faces on the wedding day, as we did on this one.
Eric is Irish, from Ennis in County Clare to be exact. He’s about a 2 hour drive from where I grew up and where some of my family still lives – a small town called Clifden, in County Galway. Small world, eh bud! You will have to get used to saying ‘eh bud’ if you want to fit in over here 😉
So after growing up only 2 hours apart I meet Eric over here at The Northridge Inn & Resort in Muskoka to shoot his wedding. It’s funny how things work out. When Joanie and I pulled up to the venue we noticed the ceremony space right away. This has to be one of the most unique ceremony spaces we have filmed over the years – and we have seen some really nice ones! Of course I whipped out the drone right away to get some shots before the ceremony started. Add in a whole lot of wind and the setting was even more dramatic. You may think we’re not fans of wild wind at weddings due to the difficulty it may cause with audio and shooting, but it really add’s something extra visually that we can’t quite put our finger on. Add in some slow motion and it’s a match made in heaven! The only other wedding ceremony that I can think of that was this windy was Andreas + Jessica And that video turned out pretty good too 🙂
Sabin + Eric were so easy-going and fun to work with. “Whatever you need, just tell us” is still ringing in our ears 🙂 While writing this blog I just thought to myself have we ever shot a Pakistani/Irish wedding before? After .01 seconds of thought, it hit me! Of course we did! And it was only my best friend Jonny, who married the love of his life Shahmeem back in London, England. Joanie and I were both enjoying the wedding while doing our best to record the action at the same time. If you want to see me stumbling over my words and making a fool of myself, let’s time travel back to September 2012 to see how it all went down.
Sabin and Eric, we will remember you guys forever and always think fondly of your day, just as we do for Pinky and Octav’s. We are blessed to be in this line of work where we get to witness such raw emotions mixed with such fun-loving people.
Nuthin but love,
Henry + Joanie x
