Kurtz Orchards Niagara-on-the-Lake wedding ceremony

Put a stunning couple in a stunning setting on a stunning day, and you get one stunner of a wedding! We experienced absolutely perfect weather for Victoria and Jonathan’s big day out on Kurtz Orchard in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake. All the natural surroundings along with the choice of colour scheme and amazing decor were sun-kissed for just that perfect romantic feel. Everything about this wedding was my kind of style…seriously, check out my Joanie’s Wedding World Pinterest Board if you don’t believe me! Jonathan and Victoria are just such a lovely couple! We loved their quirky sense of humour and their ability to just laugh at themselves and have fun with parts of a wedding day that can be quite nerve-wracking – like posing in front of a camera! They did amazing during the photoshoot/videoshoot, and the footage certainly proves it 🙂

VENUE: Kurtz Orchards is a venue I would definitely recommend for couples looking for old world charm and a solid natural backdrop that has wow factor! There’s just something about a marquee surrounded by acres of vineyard that is so gorgeous and romantic! Elaborate decor isn’t even needed when you have the surroundings offered to you at this venue. However, as this couple proved, decor can certainly enhance an already beautiful foundation. The great thing about Kurtz Orchard is that you could have your whole wedding here without having to move once – from getting ready, to the ceremony, to the reception at night – every space for each portion of the day was perfect! The only thing that you will have to consider is the time this place has to close up shop. Since it’s earlier than a lot of venues, you will most likely have to shift your schedule forward to have an earlier dinner if you want to get some dancing in. It might be perfect for you if you don’t plan to have too much dancing in the end anyways!

VEIL: The bride was put together perfectly on her wedding day! Loved the dress, loved the shoes, and absolutely loved her unique veil -isn’t it so pretty?? It’s from LasVegasVeils on Etsy (I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I love Etsy! It’s a place that is perfect for wedding shopping – go there for great deals, unique items, personalized gifts, and more!).

MUSIC: We needed songs that would work with this couple and the wedding cinematography. With such a romantic and emotional ceremony, we decided to start off with Always Be by Holly Maher. A lovely song that suits the opening of the wedding video and the sweet vows that the couple wrote to each other. Then we ended it off with Stuck on You by Meiko, – cute, fun, and upbeat – just like the couple! They actually played that song when the bridesmaids were coming down the aisle, and I knew right there and then that it was going to be the song I was going to use. Great idea for a ceremony entrance song if anyone is still looking! Love the beats at the beginning!

PHOTOGRAPHER: We worked with the lovely team at Afterglow Images – perfect name for their photos! All their subjects certainly look like their glowing – check out their portfolio and website! (Note from the couple: Kirk and Angela were so on top of everything and take gorgeous photos)

COCKTAIL HOUR: I have to say this was one of the most beautiful and delicious cocktail hours I’ve been to! The highlight was a bread/cheese/fruit table centered in the garden where the cocktail hour was taking place – it was just so colourful and appetizing to look at! I eat with my eyes, so the way they displayed all the food stations certainly made my mouth water! I really liked how they had it self-serve style so people weren’t knocking over servers that could only carry one small tray of hors d’oeurves (because people are always hungry by 5ish)!

SHOE GAME: The shoe game should be familiar to people who attend weddings – it’s often played and always goes down well as it gets a laugh out of the couple and all the guests! Since it’s played quite regularly, we thought it was interesting when unusual questions were asked at this wedding. One question asked was, “if you were deserted on an island and you had no food, who would likely eat the other first?” Each person naturally picked themselves LOL! If you’re planning to do the shoe game as well, ask the person that is coming up with the questions to go down a unique route and think of questions you’d never think of yourself! Makes it more fun for you and all your guests!

I know Victoria and Jonathan were originally quite nervous having wedding videographers follow them around all day during their wedding, so we’re very happy that these two threw caution to the wind and decided to trust in us to capture their memories! Not one bit of nerves showed up on film guys – you two are naturals! Thanks again for letting us be a part of a fantastic day!

Until the next post,
Joanie x
