READY TO GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE?

Embassy Grand Convention Centre | Brampton Wedding | Liz + Jem

One of the cool things about being wedding videographers is that you get to meet some really great people who often end up becoming friends. Jem is the brother of one of our previous brides – (Kathy + Patrick). To make the connection even stronger, we also shot the wedding of some close friends of Kathy and Patrick – (Tara + Joshua). So needless to say, when Jem and Liz’s wedding came around we felt like it was a mini reunion where we knew we were going to see tonnes of familiar faces throughout the day. And we did and it was an awesome wedding day from beginning to end.

A lot of things stood out from this wedding to us, but we are going to start with the fun stuff. In Kathy and Patrick’s wedding video you may have noticed that Patrick isn’t afraid to show off what he’s working with backstage. I’m talking about his bum if you’re not following. Anyhow, he takes it one step further during the morning by casually walking past my camera with his ass hanging out. At the time it took me a few seconds to realize what had happened and when it sunk in, I knew I had captured some true cinema right there and then 🙂 In the moment, I thought there was no way we could use this in the video. Then, when Joanie showed me her first RAW edit, there it was for everyone to see. I guess we knew straight away that Jem and Liz were cool like that and we could go into unknown territory by including normally censored footage 🙂 I mean, their official wedding hashtag is #jizforever (BEST hashtag ever!). We’re so glad we were able to incorporate their proposal in the video too. Lucky for us, Jem had set up a secret camera when he did the deed in San Francisco! What a beautiful moment to re-live over and over again! Where their love story began!

The wedding was held at the Embassy Grand Convention Centre in Brampton. As in previous weddings at this venue, they did a great job filling people’s bellies during the cocktail hour – YUM! It has a great square layout with everything you need in a wedding venue, where all the guests can easily see the live action involved. The couple treated their guests to a brilliant Lion Dance performance and did a traditional Filipino money dance – Jem looked like a king with his money crown! They also had an amazing photobooth (I’m a Photobooth) put on by Kathy and Patrick – we couldn’t leave without getting a picture with the whole crew (now you know what I look like with hair).

We have to give a shout out to the Jenn Kavanagh Photography also. We worked with Jenn before on a previous wedding – (Adam + Laura) and she was great to work with again. She always considers where we will be and how to work together to get the best shots together.

Thanks again Jem and Liz for having us be a part of your incredible wedding. The shots you took with us at the end of the night were nice too (Liz is a champ by the way – two shots in a row, and not a flinch!). As parents, we’re hapy to get those shots in when we get the chance!

Nuthin but luv,
Henry + Joanie x
